The Town Of Kalkan
Kalkan is a small and peaceful historic town situated in a stunning location along Turkey's Lycian Coast.
This sophisticated little town is set in breathtakingly beautiful landscape curling around the harbour and overlooking the bay.
Winding cobbled streets, beach clubs on rocky outcrops over the crystal clear Mediterranean, wonderful roof top and harbour side restaurants/bars combined with the stunning vistas over the beautiful bays make Kalkan a truly unforgettable destination. There is definitely something for everyone.
The British Newspaper "The Independent" listed Kalkan among the best destinations 2007, especially for those seeking a romantic location.
Kalkan attracts predominantly British guests who are attracted by the authentic yet cultivated ambience. By day Kalkan is virtually a ghost town, as everyone deserts for the nearby beaches and beach clubs. A Dolmus local bus from the village centre takes ten minutes to each Kaputas Beach, a lovely sandy swimming cove situated at the foot of a stunning gorge. There are also several beach clubs should you not want to venture to Kaputas beach.
In the evening Kalkan's true colours show with a wonderful nightlife. The wide range of restaurants and sophisticated bars cater to all tastes. Kalkan and all its enchantments will quietly seduce you into living on Turkish time, unhurried and peaceful, enjoying all that the region has to offer. This is where the living is easy, the views are stunning, the food is fabulous and the people are friendly, an absolute delight.
Transfer time from the airport is 1 hour and 45 minutes.
